The Witchery FAQ

 The check-in window begins 15 minutes before your scheduled workshop time. If you are not present and checked in by the start time of the workshop, we cannot guarantee entry. 

After reserving your spot(s) in a workshop, you will receive an email with confirmation of your booking, as well as the date, time, and location. All times are in EST (Eastern Standard Time), but receipts may say otherwise! If you do not receive this email, please give us a call. 

Please give us a call to let us know when you expect to arrive. If we do not hear from you, we will assume you aren't coming, and may give your spot to a walk-in. If you are not present when the instruction portion of the workshop has begun, we cannot start over for you. Missed appointments are not eligible for a refund, but we will work with you to try and reschedule your reservation, or you can put your initial payment toward a kit-to-go. 

 You can reschedule your workshop reservations through the confirmation email you initially received upon booking your spots for the workshop. You must reschedule each and every workshop appointment individually (i.e. if you need to reschedule 4 workshop reservations, you must reschedule 4 separate times). We may not be able to accommodate your group if your appointments are erroneously scheduled, so please double check your dates when booking! 

 You can receive a full refund of your initial payment if you cancel your reservation at least 24 hours before the start of your workshop. Reservation cancellation can be done through the confirmation email you initially received upon booking. After cancelling your reservations, give us a call and we will be able to refund you. There are no refunds for late cancellations, tardiness, or no-shows. 

If the calendar is blank for a specific workshop, this means that the workshops at that time are completely sold out. There are a few ways to move forward from there:

• Get a kit-to-go: These are available in our retail space or in our online store, available while supplies last. In October, retail hours may be subject to change; please check our homepage for updates.
• Reserve a private workshop: If you are coming with a larger group and are having trouble finding a time slot with enough seats, we can help you find a time to schedule a private crafting workshop. Fill out our Private Workshop Inquiry form to begin this process.
• Continue checking availability: There is a chance that people will cancel reservations before their workshop. If this is the case, those spots will become open again for another customer to book. Please note this is not guaranteed.

 Yes. Fill out this form to inquire about booking a private broom making, bookbinding, spelljar, or open crafting workshop. If you would like to book a private workshop but have fewer than 10 people in your party, you will still be required to pay for 10 spots in the workshop. 

Please note that we cannot guarantee we will have the availability in our schedule to add private workshops, especially during busy season.

Yes; all crafters must pay in full before joining the workshop. This initial payment reflects the size of craft you would like to make, but you will have the option at the start of the workshop to upgrade to a larger size. Please check out the broom making and bookbinding specific FAQs for additional information on pricing. 

You can always upgrade! We recommend selecting and paying for the small craft if you're uncertain what size you want. Once in the workshop, you can decide make a larger one and pay the difference after. Downgrades are not encouraged, but can be sorted out with management.  

We are located on Pickering Wharf, one of the best spots in Salem! Find us at 86 Wharf Street, surrounded by charming shops, delicious restaurants, and the beautiful waterfront. 

There is free 2 hour parking around Pickering Wharf, but space is limited, especially in October. Metered parking and parking garages are available elsewhere around downtown Salem. You can find more information about parking in Salem on the Destination Salem website.

You can shop in our retail space any time; no appointment required. We recommend you check our website/social media or call ahead to check our retail hours (they are subject to change and we may have unexpected closures depending on the season).  

All broom making, bookbinding, and spell jar workshops are ages 13+ (no exceptions). However, you can purchase a kit-to-go and help your child make their craft at home. Please also consider booking a private workshop or a private open crafting party, which is not limited to ages 13+ (must book for a group of 10 or more for private parties). 

We cannot accommodate infants or strollers for capacity and safety purposes.

No; our workshop space is open only to those who are participating. If your group requires more flexibility in class size for observers/supervisors/troop leaders/parents, consider inquiring about a private workshop. If someone in your party requires additional assistance due to a disability, please contact us prior to your workshop, and we will work with you for necessary accommodations. 

No; everyone participating in a broom making, bookbinding, or spell jar workshop must be working on their own craft.

For additional crafts, you are welcome to purchase a kit-to-go. 

We love our familiars, but no dogs are allowed in The Witchery except legally tagged ADA service dogs. 

Due to a lack of space, any large items such as luggage or strollers will not be allowed into the workshop area. We must save space for staff to navigate and to accommodate crafters with mobility devices. 

You can visit our storefront at 86 Wharf Street any time during our retail hours to purchase a fully customizable kit to go, complete with instructions and video tutorials.

We also have a brand new DIY studio space on Pickering Wharf called Craft Witch. This storefront has about 15 crafts to choose from, which you can craft in the studio or also take as kits to go. 

Depending on availability, they are often open for walk-in crafting.
