Broom Making FAQs

children and broom making

Please note that broom making is for teens and adults Only. It is not appropriate for children as it involves upper body strength and developed motor skills. If you have a young child, consider bringing them in to select their own “broom decorating” kit. Please call / text us to set up an appointment to pick up a kit to go!

there is a $50 deposit. What is that for?

$50 (plus sales tax) is required to hold your spot for all workshops. This is your initial payment, and $50 will be deducted from the cost of your broom when finished. (For instance, if you make a small broom, the cost is $59, so you will only owe $9 (plus any extra items you purchase). We do not store your credit card. Your balance is due at the end of your session.

Can my friend/family stay and watch?

No. Because our shop is small, you can only stay if you are making a broom. If your friend/family doesn't want to make a broom, we suggest they check out the many shops and restaurants on Pickering Wharf while you craft. The one exception is if you are the only one signed up for the class, then they are welcome to stay and watch. Thank you so much for understanding!

How much does it cost?

  • Small brooms - $59
  • Medium brooms - $69
  • Full size Brooms - $89
  • This includes instruction fee and materials. $50 deposit (plus $3.12 sales tax) is required for all workshops. $50 will be deducted from your session.

can two people make one broom together?

Unfortunately, no. Everyone sitting at the table must make their own broom, and be able to craft independently.  Please note- we currently do not have a wedding broom option, due to the size of our workshop. You can, however, come in to select your wedding broom kit to go!

what's included in the broom making sessions?

A finished hickory or unfinished ash handle, natural broomcorn, twine, pendant/charm, extra color splash bundle to make your broom pop, and an hour of instruction by our knowledgeable staff. Other accessories available for purchase.

how long does it take to make a broom?

It usually takes 5 or 10 minutes to select your materials- unless of course you are a Libra. Then it might take longer. It takes about 30 minutes of instruction and guidance to actually make your broom- unless of course you are a Virgo. Then it might take longer. ;) Workshops are one hour in length.

When can I take a workshop?

Workshops run most days at 1pm, 2:30pm and 4:00pm- with extra times in October.

How do I get a broom kit to go?

You can purchase a broom kit to go by using our online store, or by texting us for a visit.

what are your broom sizes. can i take my broom on an airplane?

When assembled, the average broom sizes are: small = 21", medium = 33", large = 55-60". It's best to check with your airline to see if they will let you on with your broom. If not, there is a UPS store close by, and the post office isn't too far as well. The Witchery doesn't ship brooms once they are made. We do, however, ship broom kits to go!

I'm running late for my session. what IS YOUR POLICY?

If you are running more than 5 minutes late, please note we may not be able to start over for you. We often have a waitlist and people are eager to take your seat! Thank you for understanding. You might be able to reschedule your appointment, or schedule a time to get a kit to go. You can also use your deposit to order a kit to go online.

RESCHEDULING, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS.

To reschedule, please go to your confirmation email and reschedule ALL of your appointments. If you booked for 4 people, you must reschedule 4 times!
